Metro has received a prestigious national award for the 26th consecutive year in recognition of its excellence in financial reporting.
The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, awarded by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA), is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and recognizes government units that meet the highest standards for state and local government financial reports.
In order to receive a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, an organization must publish an easily-readable and efficiently-organized comprehensive annual financial report. The contents of the report must conform to stringent program standards.
“We’re honored to receive the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting,” said Metro Chief Financial Officer David Riposo. “It’s a testament to the professionalism of our team and commitment to following accounting best practices to ensure the community sees value in the work we do.”
Metro is a non-profit, tax-funded public service of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority, providing about 15 million rides per year.
