Metro riders may soon see a welcome addition to their bus stop as Metro begins installing the first of 50 new benches at stops throughout its system today.
The new benches, which will be distributed among stops with 25 or more passenger boardings a day, are constructed of powder-coated black slatted metal. Each bench will measure 72 inches in length and 34 inches in height, compliant with City of Cincinnati Transit Stop Guidelines. The benches were manufactured by Mason-based Armor Group, Inc.
On March 8, Metro will install the first five new benches. Those benches will be located at high-ridership stops on Colerain Avenue, West North Bend Road, Hamilton Avenue, Ludlow Avenue and McMillan Street. The agency plans to install 45 more benches in the near future.
As installation begins, Metro is asking the public for feedback on bus benches via its website. Agency representatives will also be at the Cincinnati Neighborhood Summit, March 16 at Xavier University, as well as local community council meetings, to discuss the project and gather public input.
